[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A juvenile Kestrel was looking at my car and planning how to attack and kill the driver. The picture was taken at Leysdown Marshes. I am posting another picture as WORKSHOP taken 2 hours later in the same place. The bird is probably the same and it seems to be even more curious.

As the later picture was taken just after sunset at ISO 2000 there is noise I could not get rid of by using PS3 noise reduction or Neat Image. The noise also affected the final sharpening. If someone would like to have a try, I would very much appreciate. (f/8.0, 1/80 supported by window frame, IS on)

From RSPB website:

Latin name
Falco tinnunculus

Family
Falcons and allies (Falconidae)

Overview
A familiar sight with its pointed wings and long tail, hovering beside a roadside verge. Kestrels have been recently declining as a result of habitat degradation due to continuing intensive management of farmland and so it is included on the Amber List. They have adapted readily to man-made environments and can survive right in the centre of cities.

Where to see them
Kestrels are found in a wide variety of habitats, from moor and heath, to farmland and urban areas. The only places they do not favour are dense forests, vast treeless wetlands and mountains. They are a familiar sight, hovering beside a motorway, or other main road. They can often be seen perched on a high tree branch, or on a telephone post or wire, on the look out for prey.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Small mammals, insects and birds

Hello Pekka,
great capture for beautiful Kestrel with great sharp focus. Nicely composed and notes. I visited your WS. It is also wonderful, with excellent timing. I'd like to add that they eat insects too.
Thanks for sharing, well done
Ahmet

Hi Pekka,

I'm laughing at your notes. In spite of the fear that this Kestrel would swoop down and kill you you managed a very good shot. He really is a beautiful bird in a nice pose holding on to the wire with one hand. Where is the other one? The face is lovely with the nice yellow eye circle. Plummage and tail feathers are wonderful. Excellent colors and details and a lovely composition against the blue sky. I love the workshop too.

Hello Pekka,
Great shot taken while you were aware that this juvenile Kestrel was planning to make a meal of you!:))
The lighting, though forcing you to use ISO 2000 is great and on my screen the noise looks minimal. Nice sharpness and composition too.
TFS and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Ciao Pekka, great double diagonal composition with wonderful bird in great pose, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Pekka,

It sounds like something from 'The Birds' with this premeditated attack in mind!! It is cerainly staring with an alert intention!

Good eye and plummage capture and I like the way you have used the wire perch to create a diagonal across the shot. It helps to give the whole shot a great composition.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hej Pekka,
What a fine view of this beautiful Kestrel, a bird common here but you nearly always see it on the wires along the main roads where you can't stop!! You were lucky getting such a sharp and beautiful shot in good light. It looks good against the blue sky!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla
