The Heron is a large slow, silent mover on the shallows of inland waters and the sea shore. It stands very still looking in the water for fish then strikes at the fish with great speed also feeds on Frogs, Rats and other prey . It nests in tree tops and high bushes making a nest of thick sticks laying 4 to5 eggs. It has a life span of up to 25 years.

Hi Ian,

This is a good photo of this heron. It is composed well with the heron looking into the photo. The detail on his back feathers is very good and the picture is well exposed with the dark and bright parts of the heron.
