[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,

Well this is the last day of my holiday so I will take the opportunity to post a shot early!

This is a male mallard duck.
I know that they are relatively common but I came upon this one sunning himself in the unusually warm winter sun, and the light shining on his irridescent head feathers made him look very grand! I don't think he was posing for me! I think he was just getting the best of the sun and turning to warm each part, like a piece of toast!

I think mallards are becoming more common generally!
As a child, I would only see them on park lakes but now they frequent the moorland streams, the lakes and even occasionally alight on garden ponds! Maybe this is due to the improved condition of the water! Certainly there is less pollution and much more wildlife in the water!

Thank you for stopping by!
I will be interested in any feedback you may leave! :-)

pp just sharpened, framed and signed

p.s. I apologise for the loss of technical information!
Somehow it has been lost whilst saving!

Hi Bev,

Of course he was posing for you!! Nice pose - he looks like he is relaxing. He doesn't seem at all disturbed by you as he looks straight at the camera. The irridescent green and the other colors are lovely. A really nice close-up portrait.

Hi Beverley.
I like to see the nice picture of the beautiful duck. I have took these days almost similar pictures at Fashion Show. Great portrait work. Very attractive pose of the bird, charming expression of the eye and superb cropping. I like BG a lot too. Perfect job. My hearty compliments.

These ducks are very common here in NZ, but I do like them. And they do photograph well.
You've captured the colours and patterns well Bev, and the catch-light in his eye too - BRAVO!

Hi Beverley,
This is a beautiful capture. Great sharpness to show his great color, and DOF puts the focus on him. I love how the sun has made his breast feathers look silky.

Hi Bev,
He might be posing for you, one never knows!
Well captured shot bringing out the brilliant colours. Subject is very sharp and no BG attractions.TFS
