Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am posting a subject that I have never posted previously! This is a tree! Not a special tree, just a tree but I was intrigued and thoroughly captivated by the beauty of its bark. The sunlight and shadows were giving it superb texture! The prominant hole also gave it character and reminded me that it was also a living habitat!

Here is some very interesting information from Wikipedia:
Bark also known as periderm is the outermost layer of stems and roots of woody plants such as trees. It overlays the wood and consists of three layers, the cork, the phloem, and the vascular cambium. Products used by people that are derived from bark include: spices and other flavorings, tannin, resin, latex, medicines, poisons, various hallucinatory chemicals, and cork. Bark has been used to make cloths, canoes, ropes and used as a surface for paintings and map making; A number of plants are also grown for their attractive or interesting bark colorations and surface textures.

Many thanks for your visit which I hope you enjoyed!
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph! :-)

pp just slightly cropped brightened.
I usually put borders on my photographs but this seemed too wild and natural to constrain it with a border!

Hi Beverly.
You are right. This tree is regular and at the same time is unique. You have presented its features skillfully. The light/shadow effect is really amazing as well as the colour palette and details of the trunk and entire scene. Well done and TFS.
Alexei.

Hi Bev, splendid light on the beautiful trunk, simple and splendid composition, very well done, ciao Silvio
