This is but one of about 50 species of Myosotis, and appears (to my eyes) to be Myosotis alpestris or Alpine Forget-me-not.

The name “Forget-me-not” is as common as its habitats. In French it is "ne m'oubliez pas", German "Vergissmeinnicht", Italian "Nontiscordardimé", Polish "Niezapominajka", Slovak "Nezábudky", Danish "Forglem-mig-ej", Icelandic "Gleym-mér-ei", Swedish "Förgätmigej", Dutch "vergeet-mij-nietje", Spanish "no-me-olvides", Russian "Незабудки", Bulgarian “Незабравки”, Romanian "nu-ma-uita", Lithuanian "Neužmirštuolės", Greek "Μη με λησμονείς" , Chinese "勿忘草" (Mandarin: wù wàng cǎo), Korean "물망초" (勿忘草, mul mang cho), Japanese "勿忘草" (Wasurenagusa), Hebrew "ינירכז" (Zichrini), Hungarian "Nefelejcs", Turkish "Unutma Beni", Albanian "Lule-mos-me-harro", Czech "Pomněnka."

According to legend, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river, a common habitat for these delicate flowers. He picked a small bouquet of the little blue flowers for his lady, but because of the weight of his armour he fell into the river and realized that he would soon drown. So he threw the posy to his lady loved, crying out "Forget-me-not".

The flower is also associated with Mary in some Christian mythology, the blue colour being dedicated with her, the number of petals (5) being related to her in medieval numerology, and the flower being most common in the month of May, also associated with Mary.

Hello Silke!

Definitelly one of most beautifull flowers from our forests. Lovely colours and light, great 3D effect and composition. Fascinating, that name of this flower has got same meaning in many languages [at least English, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Bulgarian...]

Hi Silke

I have noticed that you were not around for some time and from time to time checked in to see if you posted something new, but then I saw it was still "Steamin' In For Dinner" lying last in your portfolio. Sorry I did not realise you were ill, but I am glad to hear that you are better now and I hope all is well.

This "Blue Eyes" looks great and you managed a good range in the DOF to capture all the details just fine. The composition also has good sense of scale and positioning.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Thanks for your kind comments.

I am simply a sicker for this colour of blue. Period. End of story...well...actually I don't like them when they're dead...That's about it...oh yes and before they bloom but that's it...oh I and don't like people who don't like blue:-) Just kidding..Fantastic frame full of image Silke! You should called it Tour de' Force instead of Silke!

Hi Silke - a wonderful bouquet. I have always seen these flowers around, but until you look really close at them (and with a camera) you don't see how really beautiful each tiny flower is.
Pretty blue and especially with the light shining on them

Hello Silke,

What a wonderful presntation of these tiny blue forget-me-nots!
I like their interaction with the broad leaf: encircling it, peeping from behind it!
The details are nice and sharp with a perfect dof.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Silke, elegant flowers composition with splendid colors, excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Ok, so I've been panting over on TL for blue flowers with a long extensive discussion with another southern belle, who will remain nameless, about blue flowers and I find you hiding them over here! LOL!... This is quality stuff, you might do best to share some of this with those of us who appreciate your talent... B-)
Now for the pic...FABULOUS smoothness to the flowers, excellent details and the DOF is to die for! How can it get better?... it could be posted where I'll see it! LOL!
B-)
Linda (your partner in crime)

Hello Silke. Thanks for the encouragement in my TL account. I can see some of our good friends and excellent photographers suffered the same fate or even worse than me here in TN.

The shot here is stunning in tall frame. I like the glow and the perfectly metered shot in bringing out the best of the composition. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hello Silke,
a very pleasantly appealing picture that is showing plenty of those lovely Vergissmeinnicht blossoms and is yet so clearly and neatly well composed. Outstandlingly well controlled blue colours in those hard to control freckles of light and shadow that look very airy and beautiful.
With thanks, and my best regards,
Peter

Bonjour Silke,
Très belle macro, agréablement composée dans laquelle le sujet est bien mis en valeur par la finesse des détails et la délicatesse des couleurs.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
