[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a close-up of a Southern Hawker dragonfly which I photographed in early July.
It flew on to a twig and posed very well allowing me to get quite close. I used my Sigma 180mm macro lens and a Sigma EM-140 DG Ring Flash to illuminate it.

I hope you like this one!

Another super portrait in two days, Well Joe, the close up of those heterogenously attired eyes (from the viewpoint of facet sizes) really make this a splendid nature study, TFS indeed MF.

Hi Joe,
the ring-flash works well here except for the strong reflection on the compound eye.
Otherwise, exposure is well balanced. Magnification and sharpness are superb and allow
to see many deails.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Joe. Good to see you back on TN. You have mastered the art of macro shots. Your use of the flash has given bright even light across the picture resulting in such natural colours. The eyes stand out so well. TFS.

PS If you went to london i hope to see some Deer Pictures soon.

Ciao Joe, an other fantastic portrait with amazing details, super macro, my friend, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Joe

Another top macro from you, mate!
This really was a nice d-fly to let you get so close (even though you had your long focal length macro on) and you seized the opportunity well!
The ring flash lighting here is a very important element in my opinion, because it permitted you to use that huge f/18 to get the most DOF...and what a treat that is :) Everything important seems to be in focus and all the details are very very clear!
Really great job, Joe!

Bravo and TFS

Good to see you back, Joe, though I myself am now very irregular on TN owing to my new job (not all that new anymore) which keeps me busy from 9 to 6, six days a week.
This macro image of a dragonfly's eye demonstrates you professional skills as a nature phtographer. All these details cannot be seen so sharply with naked human eye.
I hope you would continue to patronise TN and help in restoring its glorious era.
