Another picture taken at the Butterfly farm i visited this week.

Tiger Longwing ( Heliconius hecale )
The Tiger Longwing Butterfly originates from Mexico and the Peruvion Amazon.
They are pollen eaters rather than surviving on food stored from the Laval stage or on flower nectar. The eating habit attributes to its longevity of several months. The Larvae feed on passion vines.
The Butterfly is brightly coloured with long forewings.
It is closely related to the Fritillaries.

Hello Nick,
Superb shot of this beautiful Tiger Longwing in a fine pose. Great focus on the eye and the rolled-up proboscis! Sharp details and fine colours. Excellent composition and nicely framed.

Hi
Good picture of this beautiful butterfly! I'm off to Rotterdam tomorrow for another butterfly farm.

Hi Nicholas,
a technically fine picture. The sharpness is there where is should be. A great butterfly to see.
The perswon who does the last editing on pictures of a bird magazine in which I join the editing board told me you have to 'read' a picture like a book: from left to right. He told me that the left part therefor should be slightly darker than the right part. It worked out good in your image (but I'll guess you weren't thinking of that when taking the picture)
Good one!
JAcob

I must, visit one of this butterflies farms sooner or later, the species that you show from this places are amazing.
Nice capture, sharp, but showing the delicate textures in a pleasant way. The composition is very lovely.
Thanks and regards, Felipe.

Hi Nic,
Outstanding shot of this pretty buterfly, very good depth of field and perfect focus, wonderfull colors and good pose whith his wrapped around horn, well seen and well done

Hello Nick
Another Amazing capture and very well done..to me though you have over sharpened the image creating an unnatural look to the left antenna and the burning out of the whites on the wings. Still a very impressive shot and as always a note that is very informative and sharing knowledge.
A good rest of the bank holiday weekend to you.

I am getting to know your unique style of presentation. Believe it or not your style is quite unique....and very lovely in a subdued way which you see. Perhaps understated in a positive way...

Nicholas, Beautiful shot and nice position of the butterfly on the frame and also the leaf. The details are excellent and alos the colors and sharpness Ganesh

Another photo with beautiful details and great sharpness. I love the details in the head again...the curling of the proboscis. Great dof. Nice clean shot!

Hi Nick,
A nice capture of this different looking longwing. Nice details and a good POV. Nice work. Thanks a lot for sharing.

bonjour nick
le bout des ailes est un peu hors champ, peut etre aurait-il ete bon d'augmenter la profondeur de champ,en revanche la nettetéest tres bonne sur la tête.

Hello Nicolas
Great image of this tropical butterfly. The only one strange thing in this picture is butterfly antennae (zigzag). I think it's the result of sharpening ...
