This picture of the Ladybird Larva was taken close to the Ladybird i took on the same day .

Of all the beneficial predaceous insects, the ladybird beetles are perhaps the most important. Both adults and larvae feed on aphids, scale insects, and many other injurious species. The most outstanding success with ladybird beetles was their use to control cottony cushion scale on citrus in California.

Ladybird beetles overwinter in the adult stage and often are found clustered together under debris in the winter.

Hello Nick,
Strange looking these Ladybird Larvas - your capture shows very clearly the markings and colours. It's hard to believe it's going to turn into a Ladybird! Very well done!
After three weeks' of drought we had a downpour with thunder this evening, 20 mm in 40 mins! No need to water tonight!!
TFS and have a nice weekend! Ulla

Hello Nick,
A fine sharp macro of a Ladybird larva taken from an excellent POV with foine sharpness against a contrasting BG leaf. I haven't seen any around this year yet, but it seems to be a bad insect year here so far.
Thanks and have a good weekend,

Hi Nick

Hi Nick,

Fascinating - if I had seen this without notes I would have had no idea it was Ladybug Larva. I have never seen this before! Excellent shot on the leaf with marvelous colors and sharp details. I try to learn at least one new thing a day so thank you for this.

Awesome, Nick!I wish I had something better to say!

Hello Nick,
a very beautiful macro shot of a Ladybird larva taken from an excellent POV with good sharpness and splendid bright colours, well composed
Have a good weekend
Ciao Maurizio

Es curioso lo difícil que resulta fotografiar el estado larvario de este insecto, ya sea en formato grande o pequeño. El efecto óptico que provocan sus colores y texturas son el motivo, por las tonalidades mate de la piel y los relieves acusados.
A pesar de ello has sabido captarla bien. Como siempre eficaces trabajos !

Very nice close up of this Ladybird Larva.Good sharp and details.TFS.

Hello Nicholas !
For a long time, I saw these things but I didn't know what they were, it's only quite recently I learned they are Ladybug beetles. I like the shape and the color, they are beautiful insects even at this stage of their life. You have captured excellent details, but I also like the vivid colors (specially that green on the leaf) and the vertical composition. Very well done !
