from the rain.

The Magellanic penguin, breeds on bare or vegetated islands, in flat areas and on cliff faces. Colonies located in areas where offshore winds cause upwelling of deep, cold, nutrient-rich waters so that primary productivity is high. Birds have best nesting success in protected sites under bushes or other vegetation.

Where soil allows digging, they nest in burrows; otherwise they build nests on the ground. Both members of pair build nest. Two-egg clutch is laid and eggs are of similar size. Parents share incubation, brooding, and guarding duties. Chick hatched from second-laid egg less likely to survive to fledging. Chicks are independent at 60–70 days.

Hi Sky,
Nice capture of this penguins!
They found a secure way to protect from the rain.
Is not an easy shot, but you managed to handle pretty well with the POV to show us this scene through the open of the small cave.
Well done and thanks for share it.

Hello Sky,
Always see penguins in the open. This is the first time to see penguins under shelter. A beautiful moment well recorded.

Hello Sky,
Unusual capture very well presented, thanks for sharing.

How cozy and comfortable these penguins look resting inside the cave, Sky!
The picture show you did not wake them up :-).
Another fine capture from Falkland Islands.
