Following on from my previous upload Oh No, It's that Tree again..., the sunrise went on to produce Cloud Shadows which are shown in this picture.

Cloud Shadows are a fairly common occurance, but possibly one that we often ignore, so I thought that I would include this phenomena on TN. On top of that, it was a really nice sunrise and I could not resist another photo of it!

So what is a cloud shadow? Well it is exactly what is says it is. A shadow created by a cloud, visible in the sky.

Taken in RAW (from my bedroom window), histogram balance, slight crop to exclude a most of a tree branch and then resize and sharpen. This time I have editted out the couple of house lights around the tree.

Hi Emma,
wow what a fabulous sunset, the colors and thetextures in the sky are incredible.
I love the composition with the solitar tree silhoutte. Excellent division of space and great POV.

Hi Emma,
I've seen cloud shadows before, but never really combined with such a colorful sunrise and never on such a large scale. It does give the entire photo another effect and makes it perfectly balanced. The tree is, to me, still a wonderul eye catcher and would make a perfect subject for the BBC series, Trees of Britain. The colors keep on amazing me.

Best greetings Milos.

Well, yes... I can see why you took another photo. Wow... it is amazing. The cloud shadows are something I've not consciously noticed before. Thanks for sharing that info. Color and composition with the low horizon line is very effective. It's fortunate that THAT TREE is such a nice one.
