Emperor Goose, Chen canagica

Yesterday I posted a portrait of this lovely goose, today here is the whole thing.

Description 26-28" (66-71 cm). As large as Snow Goose or Greater White-fronted Goose. Body and wings silvery gray; black and white feather margins give a scaled bluish appearance. Head, hindneck, and tail white; throat black; bill pinkish; legs and feet bright orange. Juveniles are gray overall.

Habitat Seacoasts, mudflats, and coastal tundra.

Nesting 3-8 creamy-white eggs in a down-lined nest placed on the ground on islets of marshy tundra or among driftwood on the coast.

Range Breeds on islands and marshy coasts of western Alaska. Winters mainly in Aleutian Islands east to Kodiak Island.

Photographer at the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust in Arundel, Sussex.

Another great shot Michael showing impressive details and correct exposure...quality capture, well done.

A very nice shot Michael,
With the weather turning good at last, a trip to Arundel could be on the cards.
Nice detail, clean sharp image, well exposed.
Thanks for posting

More space in front of the goose would have been really good and the goose wouln't be in the center.
Excelent capture and details. A beautiful view. Well done.

Very neat, very clean composition, good work.
Maybe a little more air on the right side would be better for this composition.

wow, what a beauty !! the details are great , colours too. Exposure is spot-on, and it is sharp.

well done !

Well exposed and good detail Michael, the composition lets it down slightly, would have been nice to have more space to the right. A fine capture though.

Quelle belle harmonie entre le sujet et le fond! Je trouve ta composition très graphique. Merci beaucoup!

Isn't she gorgeous. I love her markings.
Spot on with this one, she looks terribly Regal, she's almost looking down at you, a fantastic pose. She's quite central, but it's not too much of a problem.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Michael, very good follow up again. It's a very nice looking Goose and one I have not seen before. The details and composition are very nice. Well done.

Michael, This is a great looking speciman..I like the pattern I see in the feathers as they run from front to rear..Very good detail/sharpness here, Well done!

Man, this reference guide to waterbirds is getting on just fine. :) I think it's time to get to the Waterfowl trust again for me. They are close by and hold the Guiness Book of record for the most species of waterfowl in one place.

Its another great shot. I love the patterns on this one. Great capture and still an excellent contribution to the series and site. Well done.

Wow what beautiful plumage and you've captured it very well. Nice composition, though I think it could have done with a bit more space in front of the goose.
