Kilt Rock & waterfall

About one and a half miles south of Staffin on the A855 coastal road lies Kilt Rock viewpoint. There are really two attractions here; one is the waterfall which tumbles from the nearby loch over the precipitous cliff edge in dramatic fashion, the second is Kilt Rock itself, a striking vertical cliff-face of basalt which if you use some imagination - resembles the folds of a Scottish kilt.

There is a fenced viewpoint that gives the only reasonable views of Kilt Rock, though the angle of the coast does not allow for a really good look at the waterfall. I took these shots late in the evening and really struggled with the light in trying to extract detail from the sky.

Very beautiful shot. I think the world is full of beauty and you captured this superbly. Great composition and wonderful colors.

Thanks for sharing this moody dramatic landscape.
Greetings,
Richard

Actually, Stephen, I like the way the sky almost merges with the sea. They provide a really good backdrop against which to view the dramatic majesty of the cliffs and the waterfall. A very beautiful scene!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Stephen, superb land/seascape here. Yes, I see the Scottish kilt - well named.
The milky waterfall is very eye-catching too. Well done
Janice

Hi Stephen,

a great shot, i was at this spot last year. I too have just returned from the Scotland, where the weather was particularly 'unphotogenic'...washed out gret skies and lfat light...you have done well here, nice colours and composition make up for the lack of light..good work.

Wow, this is a beautful shot Stephen. Very well composed and I like the way your expsosure worked on the Waterfall. Great light and colours for a varied scene. Crisp and sharp and well framed.

Hi Steve,
Another wonderful photo from you trip along the western coast of Scotland. I didn't make it that far and have to visit that part another time. You are giving me some great ideas for this next trip, when ever it will be.
The combination of a waterfall and a seascape is very special and you managed to get a very good composition out of the difficult POV. I can understand your stuggle with the sky, but now know how difficult the Scotish sky can be.
TFS,
Niek
