[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this picture last Christmas in our front garden. It's one of my favourite UK garden birds. I love how colourful they are.

The European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) is a colourful and familiar member of the finch family, easily recognisable by it's striking red face. They mainly feed on the seeds of thistles and teasels, and will also visit bird feeders during the colder months (as did the bird in this picture).

Nice capture great detail. I have seen a few photos now on TN where the background is a light tan colour which blends with the bird's plumage, it really works nicely. TFS

what a nice capture of this beautiful Goldfinch with very nice details and sharpness, especially on fine feathers. Eye contact and light on eye very well. Blurred BG fantastic. Nicely composed.
