Well its nearly over and a new year is just around
the corner. This has been my first 10 months on TN and i have enjoyed and learnt so much from you all. It has made me think about the way i take pictures and more about nature around us.looking forward to the new year.

I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year to you and your family.

I have chosen to post a Robin as its my Favourite Bird .

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

Hello Nick,
Many thanks for this beautiful Robin in a fine pose and nicely framed. All the best wishes to you and your family for the New Year!

This and the tit are among your favourites I can tell. It must be that inner yearning for some sunny warm summer days. This bird may be also waiting. I wondered where ours are in the winter..they disguise themselves in this European garb and hang out in England. How jolly is that?

Bonjour Nicholas
Très belle prise de fin d'année, bravo
Mes Meilleurs Voeux pour 2008, à bientôt
Amicalement Robi

Hi Nicholas,
A nice view of this well known bird in TN, there are hundred of them! I like the soft image surely due to scarse light condition taht gives an old-fashion look. Indeed a nice job.
I wish you a great 2008.
