[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I went out this morning to the river with my new lens and got quite a few bird shots. I finally photographed the Long-tailed Tit and Great Spotted Woodpecker! :-)
This was also taken this morning.

I hope you like it!

Latin name
Erithacus rubecula

Chats and thrushes (Turdidae)

The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

Where to see them
Across the UK in woodland, hedgerows, parks and gardens.

When to see them
All year round.

What they eat
Worms, seeds, fruits and insects.

Hi Joe,

Beautiful as well as cute. I love the close-up profile! It is so sharp that we can see every one of his feathers clearly. The Robin's colors are beautiful and you show them off to full advantage. Wonderful shot.

Hi Joe,

Fabulous close up shot of the cheeky Robin, nicely composed with the tight crop, very good detail on all of the feathers, I like the dappled sunlight falling on the Robin a lot, lovely warm colours too, great DOF and OOF BG.

My Robin sits and stares at me then poses this way and that just like a proper model, in the last week I've spotted a pair of Bullfinches, a Goldfinch and like you some Long Tailed Tits and a Spotted Woodpecker but out of these I only manegd the Bullfinch, I'm looking forward to seeing your shots.

Hi Joe,

SUPERB close-up
Excellent sharp feather details
lovely colors

Hola Je.
precioso retrato y sensacional pov,
color y agradable foco e iluminación...
buena textura,

Compared to your "Sweet Robins", Americas version is more like a Bradley Fighting Vehicle... Our robins are as big as a Jay and sometimes as pesky but many more in number...while yours look as though htey should be painting the front of the local postal station stamp.....how loverly is that? Well not as lovely as this image. This one sticks out my friend...

You give me pause...I knew my image today was a 50/50 gable...I knew it was one of those things I put up on the wall because I have run out of steam...my thoughts on this continue in other critiques....but I am doing so many things and yet keeping up daily with you my friends..Keep on the battle good!

Hello Joe,
Very nice image of this lovely colorful Robin. Wonderful pose colors and feather details. TFS and Regards,

Wonderful wonderful close-up. YOu just keep getting better and better. WOW!!!
I love your work...you're so young and already so accomplished. My goodness, when you're as old as me you'll be amazing!

Buen encuadre y excelente trabajo con el color, respetando la naturalidad de este.
Un abrazo Joe: J. Ignasi

The feather definition is amazing.

With such a powerful lens, you have got every detail on this huge close-up of Robin to perfection, Joe.

Hello Joe, wow, great portrait of the Robin! Great sharpness and details, good light and exposure and a beautiful background, the 100-400 is working well I think...;-) Thanks my friend,

Nice work Joe, a very detailed profile portrait. I like the light & shadow I see. Very good color, sharpness, POV, and comp giving the bird space above to look into :)

Very original! Also very nice angle and lighting! This is a very cute bird photo! Well done Joey! You always have a great nature photo! Cheers Josh Lewis.

Hi Joe,

I love robins and think this is a corker of a shot!! The detail you have captured is incredible - even with that lens it must have been mighty close - have you been tempting them to you with a selection pack of "Worms, seeds, fruits and insects"?!

Great shot mate - wonderful.
