[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Green iguanas, not surprisingly, are green in color, but can be found in many different shade ranging from bright green, to a dull, grayish-green. Their skin is rough, with a set of pointy scales along the iguana's back. Green iguanas have long fingers and claws to help them climb and grasp.

Geographic Range: The green iguana is found over a large geographic area, from Mexico to southern Brazil and Paraguay, as well as on the Caribbean Islands.

Diet: Green iguanas are omnivorous, so they eat both plants and meat. They tend to eat mostly plants, though, especially leaves and fruits. Sometimes green iguanas (especially young ones) will eat eggs, insects, and small vertebrates.

I photographed this at The Tropical Butterfly House in Northern Ireland.

This is a very good image Stephan. Dark background made the iguana in to the view.
Very good details and a nice composition.
Well done.

Very nice composition and good contrasts. Pity it's a bit soft on the eye and top of head.
Regards Toni

Hi Stephen, nice shot with a lovely BG. This one looks to have an underbite, tragically this is probably from bashing into the walls or glass of it's cage as a yougster. I used to own one as a kid and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Sorry to put a downer on your lovely shot, it's very good. Well done.

Very nice portrait Stephen,
Well composed, good sharp detail and nice pose.
Thanks for posting

I like your presentation of the iguana, Stephen. Great close-up. The details are very sharp and the exposure is just right. Well done!

Very good, Stephen.
It's very striking against the dark BG.
Good details, nice pose and well composed.
Well done.

Great contrast of the iguana against the black background. Your focus is perfect! The colors on the face are great, something I never would have noticed without your closeup.

Great shot Stephen. I like your unusual POV. Top of head is a bit soft so maybe a bit more DOF but the sharpness is amazing and colours fantastic. Set off against the dark BG it is very impressive. TFS :)

amazing sharpness and a great contrast against the black backgroound. Superb.

Stunning portrait of this reptile. Colour and details of his face are so good. very effective BG.

Very nice profile of your iguana Stephen. Great details and pose - he seems to have his eye on ya! Well done!

Good use of the limited f:5.6, although I would prefer just a bit more DOF this time to get the "crest" into focus. Beautiful contrast against the background with the good light. I wont get tired of telling you how I enjoy your work, thanks.

Stephen, this is an artistic shot.

Excellent composition, pov and sharpness. To me, the bg adds a lot to the picture too.

I always wanted to have an iguana as a pet when I lived in Sweden. This is an excellent portrait of the iguana with perfect composition so you can see its personality. Great sharpness with a lot of details and colours.

How did you create the frame around the picture? In PS or do you have some other software?

Great detail Stephen. Very clear, and the black background makes the iguana stand out extremely effectively.

Wow, wonderful portrait Stephen. So much detail. Just perfect! Thanks
