I spotted this small caterpillar (around 10mm long) climbing over clematis in my garden. As i watched, it began folding over the petal edge-eventually covering itself-i guess it was getting ready to shed its skin.
If anybody knows the species of moth/butterfly it will evolve into i would be pleased to know.

Hi David
I think it may be some form of Tortrix moth. These are often found in gardens as they eat a wide variety of plants. I don't think this particular individual will make it to being an adult moth. The white lump halfway along looks like a parasitic wasp pupa.
