Good Morning Everyone,

I can say this with perfect happiness today, as the sun is shining and the sky is blue for the very first time this week.

Today I am posting a shot of a hoverfly feeding from a cranesbill flower. These pretty pink flowers have colonised a grassy, roadside habitat near the village where I live. On this particular occasion, I saw quite a few hoverflies attending them but no bees. I wonder if this is an indicator of the decline of the bees or, maybe, just a factor relating to the time of day!

Many thanks for stopping by.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph. :-)

Ciao Beverley,
splendida presentazione di questo fiore con ape, mi piace molto il taglio compositivo con uno stupendo BG, straordinaria definizione, eccellente POV che mostra perfettamente sia il fiore che l'ape, fantastici i colori ricchi di sfumature delicate.

Hello Bev,
It's not just the bees, certainly in Sweden and presumably in large parts of Europe the insect life has declined quite drastically in general, even those like this marmalade hoverfly that is dependent on aphids in the larval stage.
Maybe the strange summer weather has had something to do with it.
Anyway this is a great macro of E. balteatus taken from a fine POV and well composed on the geranium flower.
Thanks for sharing it and for you kind critique on my female Gyrfalcon. I agree about the BG, but I couldn't blurr it without undersirable effects so I had to put up with it!
Best wishes, Ivan

The bees are back here in Cheney WA Bev. We have many more than we had thought we would, but that is more than likely provincial and not universal...although they were going away here too...very nice image..this is a fine pollinator!

Hi Beverley,

Great presentation and excellent shot of Hoverfly. Beautiful colour and detail sharpness.Nice BG too.TFS.

Hi Beverley. This is beautiful. It looks like a water painting . You have captured the flower and the Hoverfly with fine detail and natural colours. Such a soft BG which is just right for thiss picture. This would make a perfect card. very well done TFS.

Hello Beverley,

I am fascinated by the way you have rendered the texture of the flowers. Sharp image and good color rendering participate to this great image of petals surfaces. The insect bring a spot of contrasting color making the photo even more vivid.

Thank you for sharing,
