Nobody told the weather that its a bank holiday. We have had rain wind and some sunshine , I took this young Robin up in the Forest this morning. he is starting to get his red breast . It will take a few months to get it.

Robin ( Erithacus rubecula ) Length 14cm.
The Robin is one of the most familiar and popular garden Birds of all. The Robin is an aggressive species with the males sometimes fighting to the death to defend their territory.
The male and female are almost identical with brown crown, wings, upperparts and tail, a grey band along the sides of the breast, white belly and the famous red breast which is actually a deep orange colour. Juvenile Birds can cause confusion as they lack red in their plumage, being a rather dull spotty brown in colour.
Robins sing all year round, defending summer and winter territories with their fluty melodic song.
The Robin can be found in almost every garden as it is one of the tamest Birds, happily feeding alongside humans as they work. They will often take live food such as Earthworms or Mealworms from the hand.
Breeds from March to August building a cup shaped nest from grass and leaves lined with hair. Lays 4-6 pale blue-white eggs lightly spotted with red and incubates for 13-15 days. The young fledge after 12-14 days. They often have two broods

This is great Nick!
Not only a fine sharp capture, but one of a juvenile Robin beginning to moult into adult plumage! Taken with fine sharpness against a great neutral green BG and set in afine composition. What could be a better way of depicting this stage of a Robin.
Into my favourites!

Hi Nick,

A very beautiful Robin looking so young and innocent. The colors and details of his feathers are amazing. I love the beginnings of the red breast. A wonderful face and eye. The background, setting and composition are all superb.

ahhhh...that wonderful green perch and backdrop you use so well Nick. the "studio of nature" is a perfect combination of colour...this suits you well and speaking of actual men in suits...your son threatens to present picture proof that you exist in a suit from time to time....I await with glee!

Hello Nicholas,

What a nice light in your photo! I like the way you have presented the war color tones of bird's plumage. They make a nice contrast with the background and the moos beneath. The excelent sharpness of the image, with good details of bord's face, bring more value to the overall quality of the image.

Thank you for sharing,

Hi Nick.
Once more stunning shot from you. Great scene and brilliant framing/composition of the image. Both green stage and cute character are amazing and quality of their reflection is breathtaking. Bravo and congratulations.

These days I realize I seem invisible when it comes to being able to critique, but that doesn't stop me from admiring your work or thanking you for the many times you've stopped to add a note to something I've posted.

In this capture, I love the composition, the spark on this bird's inquisitive nature, and the catchlight. The image is sharp, clear, colorful, and amazing. You can even see the intelligence in this Robin's eye.

This is a photo to be proud of, my friend, and thank you for sharing it along with your terrific notes.
