Heres a recent shot of one of the Penguins at Belfast zoo. Some years back a gang of thugs broke in and attacked several of these birds with an iron bar. One penguin was then taken and thrown into the lions' den and killed. How anyone could do this to such friendly little creatures is beyond me. However heres some info on the birds.

Penguins are undoultably one of the most well-known animals in the world. They are members of the bird family. They are birds because they lay eggs, have feathers, and are warm-blooded animals. Most birds fly, but penguins do not fly. They use their flippers for swimming.

Found in many different habitats, or places. They live from the frozen land of Antarctica to the sandy beaches of Africa. They live from the rocky coasts of South America to the coasts of New Zealand. Penguins have adapted to more habitats and climates than any other animal in the world.

Very good frame and perspective, smooth and beautiful colors and excellent clearness.

Hi Stephen
Always nice to see these guys in their tuxedos. This is a Magallanic penguin - Spheniscus magellanicus. The King penguin has yellow feet and a yellow bil, with white ear patch. It also laks the bib on this guy.

Excellent work Stephen, fantastic portrait of thsi penguin. I love the detail and you did very well with the being black and white. I'm really keen on the watery background too. Good work and nice note.

Good work, the shadow in the front rock gives a good prespective and the shot is very nice and balanced.
TKS.

Nice DOF and detail in the picture, thanks for the useful note and sharing this.

That's not a Magellanic Penguin. Magellanics have two bands on the top of the chest. This is a Humboldt (recognisable by the thin white band above the eyes).
Nice photo, though.

hello Stephen
quelle allure ! bravo pour la composition
