Hello Nick,
A nice capture of two finches. Both the Male greenfinch and the chaffinch are nice and sharp and well seen. The technical features and composition are up to your usual high standard but I think this is a young male Chaffinch that is gaining his adult plumage. The female has no rusty buff colours.

Lovely capture of these two in the sunshine! They are obviously enjoying the meal together. Great focus on both and fine sharp details. Lovely warm colours and a fine composition. We've just started to feed the birds here and today we had the 'usual lot' together with a Chaffinch and a Brambling.

These two really do look suspicious of you! I love the way we try to guess what birds "say" to each other - I do it all the time. This pair is wonderful - it's always interesting to see different species side by side. Beautiful colors, excellent details, wonderful poses. A different and delightful composition.

Wonderful capture of the two birds "conversing". They make a great couple. I like this photo a lot and it will go into my favorites. Capturing two birds... both sexes... in such a great pose/POV is fantastic and you did a fantastic job of seeing and presenting it. TFS

A superb capture of these finches..Chaffinches and Greenfinches in my observations are very close in thier behavior and territories...I do go along with Ivan that the Chaffinch is a Male....Great notes and a great capture...The dof is spot on to get both.

You have captured a very god image of the two birds. The strong light makes even more vivid the colors of the plumage. Sharpness of the mage is very good showing fine details on the birds and wood beneath. The expresion of the birds is very fine adding significanty value to the photo.

A really beautiful duo here :)
Excellent shot of these two, with spot-on focus and sharpness on both of them.
The colors are also gorgeous and very nicely saturated, but i think the pose is the best part of this shot - with the two whispering something...very cute :)

Two perfectly focussed birds on the same log!
Excellent textural details and sharp focus.

You don't say where you captured these. Was it in your garden or in The New Forest?

The birds have just returned to the garden to feed here in N.E. Lancs. I haven't seen anything like this yet, just sparrows, starlings, jackdaws, robins, chaffinches and many tits.

Hi Nick

I don't think they are talking about you, they look like they are talking about someone just out of the frame. I think they are looking at a sparrow and are gloating about how lovely they are in their bright coats.

The DOF is perfect leaving them sharp and the BG blurred. The light is wonderful and they seem to have great characters.
