It is not easy to take such a fine photo of these quick mouving birds. You are showing this bird in very fine sharpness so that good details and nice colors can be seen. The bird looks very fine against the darck background.

A beautiful Nuthatch and a wonderful pose. I love unusual poses and this one is terrific. The colors are marvelous against the black backgroud. Superb details of the entire bird. Another excellent composition. Apparently you are finding more birds there than I am here!

Hello Nick,

This looks like a shy, modest nuthatch with its head to one side!
The focus is pin sharp and you have captured all its plummage details with good accuracy.
I do like the composition, with the bird nicely balanced on the diagonal twig.

That is in the news photo business what we call "Printed as seen through the viewfinder"...and in today's terms...What you see is what you get....It is number one rules for some...I bend them as we all do, but your not having to bend them shows the highest form of art!

I was enjoying the sounds of a nuthatch in the garden today.

A really terrific close-up of this Nuthatch!
You are right, the pose is interesting and gives the photo is own character.
The fact that this is a full-frame shot really shows your excellent skills. The DOF is very well selected, the exposure is spot-on and the overall sharpness is exceptional.
The natural contrast with the BG is also a great bonus and completes your lovely presentation.

this is a superb capture of this nuthatch and to have such a background be so uniformly dark is amazing.There are zero distractions because of the background and the bird as a result sits out very vividly with strong colour and very nicely focused details.The head of the bird looks a wee bit over exposed but probably is more due to the exceptional contrast this photos has.A fine photo and thank you for sharing it with us.
