[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

All last week i sat in my office/cell at work, staring out of the window at the clear skies and the inevitable stunning sunsets that seemed to end each day, longing for the weekend when i could get out with my camera and maybe shoot one for myself. Clearly this was not going to happen and yet again, come Friday, the weather closed in and the cloud and rain returned.
However, this doesn't mean a good long walk can't be had, so a friend and i headed out over the cliff tops on Saturday morning and ended up here, at Mupe Bay, where we had the whole place to ourselves.
A bit of tweaking with levels in Photoshop helped give me some more contrast in the brooding clouds, and combined with some nice detail given by the Bladder Wrack seaweed in the foreground, i actually came back with some images i quite like, so i thought i'd share a few with you.
Hope you like it, and may the weather be kinder to you!

Thanks for looking...

Hi Paul. I had wind of your trip from a young man. Looking at this it was well worth the long walk. You have captured such detail in the dark skys. Yet still plenty of light to give fine detail in the rocks with natural colours. well done TFS.

The young man is talking about buying a SLR !!!

dear paul, i like your photo sooo much. very dramatic light and nice POV.

Hello Paul!
This time only a short comment (I'm rather tired after very bussy day...). Very nice composition and -as always -great light and dramatic colours. You have a talent to show "normal" places in very unique way :)
All the best from snowy Lodz!

Hello Paul,

Very dramatic light and sky. Wonderful. I'm agree with the words of Cicindela: You have a talent to show "normal" places in very unique way. My compliments with these very nice compo.

Greetings Bob

Mate, this is awesome!

Sorry to hear you had great weather all week except when you could actually go out shooing, but i think you made more than most of what you had to deal with!
I live the ultra wide composition here and the beautiful elements you have in the FG. The algae and the texture and colors of the rocks are exceptional!
Farther away, you have that impressive high rock, shown with terrific details. There i can see both the nice green of the vegetation and that nice strata of the rocks. Surely, the shape is equally great...it also makes me wonder what would the view be from up on top :)
Finally, the dramatic sky works superbly here. I can see you played with it a bit, but did you also desaturate it?
Anyway, i love the outcome and i can totally see why you are happy with this shot...i would be as well! Hope to see more :)

Bravo and TFS

Hi Paul,
Very good picture of this beautiful landscape, great POV and composition, nice colours and lighting, excellent contrast and DOF with both FG and BG stones in focus. The sky is very impressive.

Hi Paul, nice wide angle, good compo and colours, nice work.

Again, a beautiful rocky seascape in sharp focus and good exposure Paul, spanning, as usual, a great depth from the immediate foreground to the far horizon, the menacingly dark skies in fine counterpoint with the yellowish rocks nearby. A wonderful image indeed my friend!

A classic PaulH shot. Lovely as usual. Good control of the composition and exposure. Good details, too. I like the vertical orientation. But I find the blur introduced by the surf and long exposure in the bottom left a bit disconcerting -- sure I understand why, but I still think it's a bit distracting in this photo. Maybe at half the time it would have been crisp enough.

hello paul,
fine landscape from our landscape specialist, i liked the pov and the vertical composition very much, beautiful details on rocks,
well done,
tfs & regards

Hi Paul,
A nice capture with good DOF as usual.
I like the details in the foreground rock pool.
Am I right in guessing this is an HDR image made of layered exposures?
Its a jolly good shot anyway, whatever the case.

You are Paul! This is your ballgame and you never change...too much fun looking at them...You really should consider some sort of show or book.

Hello Paul,
Great shot taken with leaden skies. You made good use of the limited light to achieve both sharpness and a great DOF, the Bladder Wrack making a nice FG to the Mupe Rocks in a pleasing composition.
TFS this fine image but I wonder where along the coast Mupe Rocks is.

Hello Paul,
This looks almost like the ragged coast of Lanzarote! Excellent capture showing this bit of dramatic coastline with the threatening clouds above. I love your POV and the beautiful colours. Great sharpness too and a fine composition.
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Hi Paul,
Outstanding seacape and those rocks of different shades look fabulous. Great view and the sky projects a dymanic atmosphere with the soothing lighting and your chosen low POV. Excellent composition, as always.

Hello mate.

Nice moody shoot here, with excellent composition. Nice tones and light in the foreground, with just the right amount of fiddling to give the sky a bit more interest.

I think i will have to attempt get to this spot again this weekend!

Hi Paul,
This image is very moody with the forboding skies, yet the sea is calm. The rock formation looks as though it is screaming for the skies to clear. Oh oh I am starting to see things in rock formations is that a good thing? Great image my friend.

Dear Paul, this is a stunning view of your coastal land. I think that bad weather doesn't mean bad pictures, on the contrary. The effect is superb and very dramatic with the top of the hill, at the back, elongated toward the clouds. Beautiful. The seaweed at the front with the small pool of water and the rocks at its bottom, very beautiful too. I love the terrifying ;-) grey sky. As for the weather here, we woke up in a feet and a half of snow ;-)

Hi Paul.
Unfortunately, in my windows I can see absolutely another scenes (not for shooting and especially for TN). Superb use of nice equipment and brilliant shot of an amazing place. Water, clouds, rocks and water plants as well as sky are reflected amazingly. Framing and POV are spot on as usual.

Fantastic landscape shot mate!
The composition is top-class with great FG interest and a dream main focus point :-)
Very good clarity and detail.
Superb exposure... almost HDR-like!
An awesomely moody sky (you should have seen the clouds yesterday... it was like a huge bowl on its side and the sky was literally boiling... but of course as soon as I got home, grabbed my camera and ran outside, it was gone!) :-)

Very fine work again!!
