Hello Everyone,

well the snow keeps coming here in the UK and our apprarant ineptitude at dealing with it has been quite embrassing! More is expected tonight, so fingers crossed the country can make it through another night alive ;o)
I took this a few weeks ago, during an early morning stroll in the New Forest after i awoke early and couldn't get back to sleep. I went to a favourite place of mine, parked the car and set off across some Heathland with no particular destination in mind. On this occasion i decided to get off the track and wander through the frozen heather and bogs, looking for icey puddles to shoot, inspired by our friend Markus (Heaven).
What i didn't expect to find was this large pool of water, hidden from view down in a dip. I've lived in this area all my life and like to think i know the Forest pretty well, so it was a very pleasant suprise to stumble across this place that had eluded me for so long. I aim to return here again and again to try to capture it in its various different moods.

Thanks for lookin, hope you're all well...

Hi Paul. Like you its not a area i have seen in the Forest. You will have to let me know some time and i will have to try to find it. This water looks very clear as you have taken this with a good reflection. This was one of the days with clear skys of which we have had just a few. Your use of the filters has given natural rich looking colours. well done TFS.
Nick..

Hi Paul.
A bit different subject for your but very well known highest quality and artistry of the reproduction of the amazing view. Beautiful cloudy sky and its terrific mirror reflection in the water frame the wonderful group of trees superbly. I am also impressed with ultimate, simply razor, crystal sharpness and details of all pictured objects. Light and colour palette are amazing too. I can only dream about such scenery and pictured. My congratulations and many thanks for next masterpiece.
Alexei.

Hi Paul, The clouds that are bringing all the snow was kind to you here as the clouds and their reflection add to this image. Very tranquil looking with the still water. Well seen.

Hi Paul!

Your picture contains all the ingredients that make a classical landscape perfect and pleasant: a dramatic sky, a delightful foreground and a fascinating horizon. Moreover, you are the master of the right mix of these ingredients and you know how to put them together to create such a wonderful effect...

Superb!!

Kind regards

Markus

Hello Paul,
I do feel sorry for you over there while we here in the north have no snow at all, just grey clouds! Perhaps you can post us some macros of snow flakes!! - In those conditions you're wise to escape to the past and this is a fabulous landscape from the New Forest, a place I've never been to. I love your composition and the light, colours and reflections in the water are wonderful!
Many thanks and cheers, Ulla

Hi Paul,
A peaceful and tranquil moment, favourable for meditation.
I like a lot the proportions of the thoughtful composition, and the addition of the vivid blue hues right up there to the left.
Great work and thanks for share.
My best regards,
JM

A beautifully serene naturescape in your usual in-depth style Paul, the dead branch in the FG reminds us that the living nature also harbours a dead facet. The colour spectrum, from dull gray to lively blue really captivates the eye my friend!
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Paul,
Outstanding shot with such delightful colours and amazing details. The reflections on the calm water is just majestic and the I love that FG branch half submerged in water. Superb light and exposure handling and your POV has created magic here. Wonderful composition.
TFS.

Hi Paul,
I can see why you went for the centred composition here.
The contrast of the sky on the two different sides is quite neat, and it all woirks well.
A very pleasing shot with great DOF and sharpness.
Very nice work.
Cheers & TFS
Steve

Hi Paul and nice to see you drop by :)

It's been quite some time since we haven't seen/heard anything from you...
This looks like a splendid find, mate! Also looks like a terrific day to spend a whole day near, when in the warm season: practicing on macros by day and shooting beautiful landscapes with reflection when the light is low :)
This is also a lovely shot, with a very well thought of composition.
I like the FG element you chose here - which due to the white bark, really stands out well.
The colors are all gorgeous and the moos is equally great.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hi Paul,

Another stunner, beautiful light and colours, excellent d.o.f, just a magnificent landscape.

All the best, cheers Rick :)

You've captured a very cool shot of a very simple scene. That birch tree floating in the water is a great foreground element. Nicely done!
