Hi Nick,

You are starting out the season with a beauty! A wonderful Large Red Damselfy in an excellent pose on the leaf. The colors and details are all magnificent. I love the shadows of the legs and the wings on the leaf. Superb background and composition.

Hi Nick

Congrats for your first damsel of the year! The large red is always a beauty - especially on such a complementary green leaf and BG.
I wish you happy shooting on "your" river there and hope to see some more lovely shots from you soon ;)
I do remember that it was almost a year ago that i was there with you, Jay, the two Pauls and Joey, on that beautiful day out photographing and i also remember those nice scarce chasers we found. Good luck in finding them again, too!
I hope we could do another day like that again someday, as well.
Warm regards

Hello Nicholas,
Spring is defintively arrived with the first Damselflies.I just would like to know, why there are no around here..
Very pleasant composition and superb light to enhace the beauty of this fine Red Damselfly. Well done!
Kind regards and a nice evening
PS I use Canon Macro Lens EF-S 60mm 1:2.8 for most of my macros.

Hello Nick,

I think you are far too critical of yourself, I think this a superb capture: it is sharply focussed, shows excellent details and colours, and the light, with its interesting shadows, is excellent.
I do like how the damselfly has positioned itself down the central vein of the leaf it adds a touch of symmetry to your fine composition.

Best wishes,
Bev :-)

Congratulations on capturing this Red Damselfly so early in the year, a perfect male speciemen taken from a nice dorsal POV with excellent sharpness. The red shows up well against the leaf.
This means that it should be out soon here too.

Hi Nicholas

"Firsts" are so important in our life. Now, I hope that you will present us many other beautiful pictures like this first damselfly of the year. The red colour contrasts nicely with the green of the leaves, and the superb clarity and sharpness reveals rich details. I also like the short and instructive notes.

Kind regards
