This was a surprise shot. Usually thes birds are shot from below, but in this instance I was standing up on a castle wall and was facing eye-to-eye with this male Kestrel. Sadly enough it was in my early days when i didn't know about jpg/raw and washed out colors so it's not perfect, but I still love it

hello jeroen
very beutiful photo and excellent eyes

Thanks for your candid critique on my recent picture, Jeroen.
I appreciate it.
Sometimes I post a below par picture for record sake. The subject I shot rather ineptly is not a 'common' one despite that word with its name. It is infrequently seen even in the Himalayan habitat to which it belongs.

Your picture of a Kestral from your archive is quite good. You took advantage of being eye level with the bird and captured the bird very well in the course of its flight. The eye, that seems to be conscious of your presence, is particularly well captured.
The colours are a bit dull, but that does not take away the appeal of this good picture of a bird in flight.

Hallo Jeroen,

Hi Jeroen. Its a picture i would have been pleased to have taken . You were lucky to have seen this at eye level. You took it with good detail and colours. Well done TFS.

i would be pleased with this shot as well he looks as surprised as you.tfs

Hy Jeroen
Wow, beautiful eye-contact with this kestrel.I like the fact that you can distringuish the colors from the back, and from below, you cannot see them. Well done!

Hello Jeroen,
A very beautiful and well-timed in-flight capture of the Common Kestrel. Great focus and lovely light and colours. We often see Kestrels hovering here along the main roads.
TFS and regards, Ulla
