Cetonia Cuprea (or Cetonia Aurea or even Cetonia Aurata).

An attractive and almost jewel-like beetle, thanks to the bright metallic green thorax and wing cases. They have noisy bumgling flight, suddenly settling on a flower to begin feeding on the pollen. the larvae of this species live in old timber, though closely related species live in ants' nests. They prefer flowery sheltered places near or in older woodland, but the adults are quite mobile and can turn up almost anywhere, including in gardens.

These two were 'busy' on top of an Allium at the allotments next to my local Church. Every Allium was lucky enough to have one of these as a visitor.

Hello Julia,

Funny title! :) The picture is very nice and details are good, colors are nice and the composition is good. Some bits of the beetles are a wee bit underexposed I think. Framing is great. Well done & TFS!

I like photos of beetles with metallic shinning bodies. Great couple Julia! Copper-green colours look amazing! Flower made good BG for this bedroom scene. Funny and very good post!

I may start hanging around churchyards, I haven't seen this beetle for a long time. Very nice shot Julia. Good title and very good details on the shot. Well done for capturing this moment. Well done.

I find beetles make fascinating subjects, just like spiders, even though I'm arachnophobic. With the beetles, it's the colours on the shells that I like. That's my favourite thing about this photo, and the humorous nature is a bonus!
