In response to Mikes large pecker!!! I've decided to show you mine!! It may be a bit smaller now, but in a year or two it'll be a good sized active pecker. My pecker popped out to say hello on a few occasions.

This is a green woodpecker chick. I've already posted the mother, which can be found Here and Here.

Thanks for looking, have a great weekend.

I see, Europeans are for those little peckers, after all, the large one do scare many.

This one looks as if it's been in extreem cold water, here, we call this, "major shrinkage" LOL

Excellent shot of the little wrinkled one. Well done on the composition.

Mike

Wow ! Beautiful and interesting shot ! Incredible, the bird and the tree seem to be in one part. Thanks for sharing Alan.

Amazing capture Alan! That little pecker had better get out of there before he gets any bigger. Excellent post, well done.

Hahaha! You guys are hilarious, peckers! :) I am really disappointed at the size of your pecker Alan and I don't think it will grow at your age. ;) Seriously, good shot! I like the way the pecker is popping out from the tree and the winking eye is just too good to be true. Good details and colors but there's is some noisy here and there. Well composed. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Alan, a great photo.

It epitomize what this webpage is all about: nature.

Excellent pov and composition to show us this very nice guy.

Congratulations.

I wouldn't dare say "lovely pecker" Alan. ;)

It's a nice moment and POV. The colors seem a bit unsaturated but it could be natural. Very well done.

Hi Alan, firstly very well done for capturing this moment, you deserve praise for that. To be perfectly honest I have never seen a woodpecker chick so I don't know what colour they are but, saying that the colours look a little flat (please correct me if I am incorrect in this assumption). There is also some noise in the BG but not bad for ISO 800, and I find the Sigma 50-500 doesn't work as well in low light situations, I don't know if you find that.

Anyway, it's a good composition and very well done for capturing.

LOL at this silliness!!! Your tiny shrunken pecker is adorable...thanks for exposing it to us across the pond.

XXOO,
Alli
