Hello,

this is looking west over Durdle Door, a limestone rock arch on the Dorset Coast that some of you may recognise from mine and others previous posts from this spot. I was lucky enough to be here for a beautiful sunset for once, and was remarkably the only person here taking photos! So, as far as i know, this is the only capture of this particular gift from nature.
Here i have tried to find a more original POV from the usual shots of this area. Wandering around looking for an interesting and different composition, the curve of the steep steps that lead down to the beach struck me as a perfect foreground element, and combined with the grasses, was too much to resist.

My continued (and seemingly endless!) efforts to capture the entire 92 miles stretch of the Dorest Coast goes on, the results of which you can see at my websiteif you are interested.

Thanks for looking...

Hi Paul,

A stunning shot of Durdle Door. Detail and colours are great, the pov is good the steps lead you down into the shot. One to add to my favorites.

TFS regards Bill

Gorgeous colours and excellent composition. I don't think I would have tried including the steps, but I think it works really well, with the curve mirroring the curve of the shore. They also seem to lead you down to the beach, and in to the image. Great stuff

Hi Paul,

like always amazing shot- the composition is just perfect, very nice sunset with lovely pastel colours, nice looking water, very good details in the foreground.
You have perfectly balanced shadows and lights on this picture which for me is always the most difficult to achive.
Great job, great capture.

Cheers
Adrian

Paul;
No matter the season, nor the lens...but including the wonderful camera and your work, I never grown tired of such great images...I can go to the store or have someone mail me a picture which might in some ways resemble your work, but yours has its own very special signature...it is only you...and perhaps it was you who has carried this torch of such shots..I commend you on your expertise and intuitive eye!

Aahhh mate...its views like this that make me crave for a visit down to your coast all the time! Boy do i miss such sites...
But i see nature has treated you right here, by giving you some super colors for the sunset. The sky and clouds are magnificent and balance out the excellent details in the FG.
Also, this last light that you've captured here made sure you would have some well lit textures in the grass near you as well, and since it's not a direct light, you'd also have some details in the cliffs and door, too.
Despite that, i'm sure this was no easy shot to exposure, but you did an awesome job and you have all my compliments for it.
Terrific composition, excellent perspective and gorgeous colors everywhere...on top of everything :)

BRAVO and TFS
Horia

PS: i personally think that something like this would make a good header or starter photo for your website - it invites the viewer in, to come down the stairs and explore the beach and beautiful Dorset coast :)

Hello Paul, this is a very nice shot with superb landscape. The colors are so beautiful and you have composed this shot very well. Ganesh

Hi paul,
perfect compozisyon,
nice color.
En güzel dileklerimle hoşcakalın

Hi Paul,
I was amazed to see 19 pages of Dorset Coast on your site. How many more do you think you need to have the total 92 miles? And, if your book is printed I would like to have it signed. :)
The colors of the sky are amazing and really made this photo stand out. The original composition is great and does allow for a perfect walk through the photo to the famous door. I am amazed to read that you did not get any Lowepro silhouttes in your photo. There must have been some meeting you didn't know of.
I do wonder what has caused the bright reflection on the headland. It might be an idea to clone it.
TFS,
Niek

You live in a really beautiful place, Paul! This has to be one of your best, yet!
Bravo!
goldy

I really like the composition here with the repeating curves. The color is gorgeous. I too am glad that you were there to capture it.
