[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

this was taken last Friday at Kimmeridge Bay. I got here at around 6.45a.m in the pitch black, in order to hike around the bay to get to this spot at the western reaches.
After an interesting spell of rock hopping over slimy wet boulders in the dark with just a headtorch to light the way i eventually made it to here.
At first i thought there would be just a gradual lightening of the sky and i may have dragged myself out of bed for nothing, but suddenly the sun appeared above Hen Cliff across the bay and bathed the land in this stunning light. It only lasted around 5 minutes before disappearing behind the cloud but it was achingly beautiful and i was lucky to be the only person there to enjoy it.

Please click here to see some others from this morning on my own site, thanks for looking and have a great weekend!

Hi Paul,
A beautiful sunset landscape composition ...
Clouds, color tones and reflections, great
Best wishes,

A perfect "dawn"scape in typical warm colours of a low sun Paul, the wide angle and that f/16 provided you with infinite depth of field and blessed our eyes with a pleasantly exaggerated perspective. Thank you indeed my friend.

Hello Paul,
That's very brave to aim right at the sun, but you did so well achieving this golden effect! Lovely cloud formations and the reflections of the light in the water and on the stones are wonderful. A very fine composition too with great depth.
TFS and all the best, Ulla

Hello Paul! Amazing seascape, wonderful stones. Mystical lightness. Mysterious shadow. Good vertical composition. Well done!

Hello Paul,
Usually I'm not one for sunsets and sunrises because the display of colours at these times beguiles the viewer into being mesmerised just by the colours. But here you have achieved much more than this with this shot!
The light and cloud pattern in the sky, the reflections in the water and the perspective all combine to give a fine view of Kimmeridge Bay as well as the wonderful colours. I can only assume that that must have been your intention!
Thanks and have a good weekend,

Dear Paul!

Golden powder in the sky, golden nuggets in the foreground and golden reflections on the water... A superb picture with a perfect harmony between the title and the content. Your usual low point of view creates a fine perspective and leads the eye to the superb horizon line.

Kind regards

Hallo Paul
Ahh! What can one say? Breathtaking - Natures own bling-bling.
Diamonds can be a girl's best friend, but gold is nature's best friend for sure. One don't have to dig mines to find gold, one can just find it at Kimmeridge Bay.
One do not need a miner to dig for gold, one can just find Paul Haynes with his photographic gear and his willingness to go rock hopping.
End result - An ocean of gold. Absolutely magic!
Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Paul,
Wow, what an amazing beautiful photo. The colours in blue and gold are splendid. It wasn't easy to get there, but the result is worth it. Fantastic clarity, DOF, POV and composition. The reflection on the water and stones is marvelous.
Have a good weekend,

Hi Paul. It was worth getting up early and the walk to get this picture. Starting with the forground the rocks and pools of water have taken on a golden glow from the sun . Going up to the sun starting to rise above the cliffs. Then the clouds which have helped to create this sun rise. First class work my friend. Well taken TFs.

Wow! Very pretty scene Paul, those golden warm colors are radiating into my house. Well done.
Paul :)

Hi mate,

I saw this one a few days back as you uploaded in the "new" part of your website (i do check it regularly, you know :)) and i liked it ever since :)
The thing i actually like the most here is the rocks in the FG, the blue-ish reflection of the sky and how these two contrast and create a very attractive pattern.
The colors everywhere here are actually truly beautiful and the scene is even more wonderful to me - since i've been exactly here and can imagine how the view to the left or right looked.
I also see you've got your Lee filters, too. Do they feel different? Are they worth the money?

Anyway, lovely work, Paul!
Bravo and Have a great weekend!

"Achingly beautiful" is precisely how I'd describe this shot, Paul. While this has your signature style, it also has innovation in it...Brilliant light, captured brilliantly by the best!

Hello Paul
great perspective for an excellent seascape. Very good details and excellent light with incredible colors and water reflections.

magnífica transparencia,
colores y pov.
gran realismo y sobresalientes detalles.
saludos Paul.

If I send you my address would you send me the gear that you took this with..thanks much. I hope that says it all:-)

Hi Paul,
This is technically a marvelous photo. The sun straight into the lens, and still so much detail in the shaded areas. I am impressed with the spot on exposure. What type of metering did you use?
The wide vertical view is beautiful and I love its clarity from front to back. The different layers of clouds make it even more beautiful.

Hello, What a beautiful sunrise image and well worth trekking around in the dark for a good spot to rest the tripod. Pointing right into the sun gave you those star points in the image. Excellent reflection of the yellow suns rays and the clouds in the water. Good long point of view with plenty of foreground for interest.
