[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large-sized feline (family Felidae) inhabiting most of Africa and parts of the Middle East. The cheetah is the only extant member of the genus Acinonyx, most notable for modifications in the species' paws. As such, it is the only felid with non-retractable claws and pads that, by their scope, disallow gripping (therefore cheetahs cannot climb vertical trees, although they are generally capable of reaching easily accessible branches). The cheetah, however, achieves by far the fastest land speed of any living animal—between 112 and 120 km/h (70 and 75 mph)in short bursts covering distances up to 500 m (1,600 ft), and has the ability to accelerate from 0 to over 100 km/h (62 mph) in three seconds.

Hello Pam,
Another excellent photo in superb sharpness and details. Very impressive eye contact, perfect timing. Beautiful colours and a good choice of composition. Great DOF.
Nice to see a photo from England this time.

hi Pam,
such a nice photograph of this cute Cheetah!
(from this safe distance, i guess, i can call it cute... lol)
no, seriously. the mood is so nicely captured. wish i could hug it... ahem, i mean... u know, just a 'wish' only. :)
jokes apart, good clarity, nice natural colour and good framing too.
oh, it's really soooooooo cute! can't resist. thank God, it's a photograph.

Technically excellent Pam, love the animals expression and this direct eye contact.
I think the large moss covered rock adds good interest & balances your comp as well..
I might clone/patch out the light straw in its fur, but that's just me ;)
Nice work!
PS - I'm trying my best to return some critiques this morning, but the TN site servers seem to be very slow...add that to my satellite internet and it's a bit painful so far :-/

portrait of this cheetah is excellent. fantastic sharpness and colour.
a very nice picture indeed.

Hi Pam,

cheetahs in England aren't so common, but even if taken from a zoological garden the technical quality of this image makes it special. To begin for the eye contact caught thanks to a great timing, then the colours managed without overdoing as sometimes it can happen. The sharpness is also truly good.

Ciao Pam, nice see you again on TN, great portrait of lovely creature with beautiful eyes, fine details, splendid sharpness and wonderful natural colors, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Pam.
This species is my favorite from childhood. You have gopt an amazing picture of the animal. Pose, glance, eye-contact are amazing as well as sharpness and details of the animal and blurriness of the natural BG. My warm regards and compliments.

Hi Pam,

I have not been on TN for many years now, but am glad to be back, and to see that you are still posting some fantastic photos
I love the honesty in the way this a cheetah is looking directly at you. The subject is so crisp and detailed, with out the BG being distracting.

Hi Pam,
Nice capture of that cheetah.
Good sharpness and colors,
