[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Great Tit (Parus major) is a small lightweight bird with the boldness and aggression of a bigger one.

Often seen at bird-tables during the winter months, feeds mainly on insects in the summer months.

Small but well built, stout legs and a thick blunt bill. Has bold black and white markings on the head and black bib forming a line running down his chest, wider on the male than the female

In its ancestral woodland habitat, it lives in mature trees but often feeds on the ground around the base of the trunk.

Cleverer than a blue tit at picking up nuts and berries and wedging them into bark to split them open. Not so good at feeding on the tips of tiny twigs.

Explores dead leaves and old bark and foliage for caterpillars, spiders, berries and seeds.

Taken through double glazing whilst the snow was around. Cropped to 30%, applied levels and high pass filter.

Adorable capture of this Great Tit on a snowy day, Bill.

Hello William
such a cute bird well presented in details and sharpness. The close up is so lovely that the face is well seen.
The black stripe on the head is the exciting feature for me.
