Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)

The dandelion is a common flowering plant of the UK that occurs mainly in grassland areas. This is a shot of a seedhead, which is also known as a clock.

Dandelions are part of the daisy family (compositae), and can be easily identified by the rosette of serrated leaves and the long "tap" root that grows beneath it.

The common name "Dandelion" is assumed to be a corruption of the French "Dents de lion" - Lion's teeth, which the leaves are said to resemble.

The orange colouration of the scene comes from the late afternoon light, the sun being filtered strongly by the fog in the air - which is where the moisture has come from :)

Such an apt title Adrian. Beautiful image. I love the water drops and the colours. Good composition.
Good work

I love your title (would give you a point just for that:-)). Excellent shot - the details, the colours - everything is just right. I have seen so many dandelions in my life (as they are also very common in Estonia) but rarely have they been wet like this one. I think you did great job at capturing the beauty of this plant. Thanks.

simplicity is also often times beautiful. In this case the elements of the picture capture both.

Great shot Adrian, everythings fits, great colors good DOF...
Well done.

This is beautiful! The DOF is just right and the exposure perfect.

Very well done and thanks for posting

Adrian, Very artistic presentation. You have created an excellent impressionistic image combining the subdued lighting with the water droplets that is very unique. Well done! Pts later..

This is impressive work Adrian. What impressed me the most is the perfect exposure. Not one overly bright spot on all the drops. Great shot. Masterpiece!

This is a marvelous macro. The dew drops from the fog are very sharp. What I like mostly is the low angle it is taken from, and that lovely sky colour.
