Salut Karan
This caught my eye in the gallery straight away! A really superb photo of your ammonite cast. DOF & POV just great. I also like the fact that it is black & white and tthe framing rounds the whole image off perfectly.
I am jealous I always wanted to find a specimin like that!
Bravo and thanks for sharing,
Amicalement

Hello Karan,
I think that this photo makes part of the TN exactly, first that counts a history of the past and second that history belongs to the presente and future...! Great picture of this fossil! Very illustrative and interesting! Well done Karan!
Best regards,
João

Hi Karan,
Very good shot of this Ammonite Cast, with a perfect lighting, pov and composition. The shadows are great and the b&w option very appropriate for the subject. I'd increase a little the dof to get all the cast in focus.

Another interesting and imaginative concept Karan...
+ composition, POV, color, sharpness, notes, framing, lighting.
= DOF (perhaps something scarce), focus.

Hello Karan,
Intersting post accompanied witha an excellent and complete note.
Only a bit blurred at top, but the non common perspective makes the difference.
I added it to paleontology gallery.
Best regards

Hi Karan, nice to see something different on TN. Nice composition with good detail and the black and white works very well. The only thing I would have probably done different is focused on the centre of the spiral but that's just a small thing, very well done and TFS.

Very interesting notes Karan.
I just love fossils. Just west of Lake Louise near Field B.C. is the world famous Burgess Shale. I think there is a website about it if you would like more information. I really fascinating
Your photo shows very nice detail on your ammonite. It has a nice symmetrical pattern.

The mountain tops of Nepal, India, and Tibet are full of them! Someone stole all my rocks from my window sill in my (ex)Simi Valley house. I love the story rocks have in them! This is an artistic and scientific picture! Good job!

Hello Hester,
It is a nice creation by nature and capture it well!
Narrow DOF works quite well, interesting lines that you make well use of in composition...

This is the sort of image you'd seen on one of those canvas prints.
Great work, lovely detail, and why wouldn't it be accepted here? Jeez it was here and living long before us *lol*
Fossils are great and it's always so exciting when you find one on a beach.
My Dad leaves in Somerset very near a beach which is full of fossils, we found one a couple of years ago as large as a tyre! Unfortunately we had to leave it where it was :-(
Thanks for sharing.
