Nice capture Emma,
I's funny to think of the things we put ourselves through to get the shot we want isn't it.
The details are nice, clear and sharp.
superb colours, lighting and exposure. DOF is spot on and the POV is good.
Well composed and good notes.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.

Hi Emma,
Perfect capture of this monster. Colors and details are very good. Water is like "smoke" at 1/20 sec!

Hi Emma,
What a coincidence. You steped away from the landscape as well. I am impressed with the shutter speed and how you used yourself as a tripod. The sharpness is excellent. The water looks really interesting, which I would only expect to see with a really slow shutter speed.
SO did you help him across the stream?
TFS,
Niek

hi Emma,
nice image and strange place for this.
i think he (even because of the size i think will be a she) is searching for a place to make a cocoon to spend the winter and in the sping the beauty will come.
very nice POV.

Quite a spectacular looking caterpillar, Emma.
I do wonder what it is doing down by the water on that rock.
Beautiful colors and interesting patterns.
The details are sharp and well exposed.

Sometimes you just happen on stuff, and being a photographer, get out your camera to record it. It works well here. I really like the water in the image, 1/20 makes for a nice blur, except for that wonderful bubble which is clear as can be, and a nice counterpoint to the rushing water. Too bad for not thinking of the ISO, but if you are as adept as changing yours as I am mine then that guy would have been a butterfly or only inherited DNA by the time you got it done. Fuzzy wuzzy is indeed a cutie, and I'm glad to have seen him.

Hi Emma,
The vivid color saturation in the caterpillar is amazing. Such a contrast form the brown rocks. You did an excellent job hand holding the slow shutter speed. Nice detail, yet a beautiful effect on the moving water. As a suggestion for the future, if you would have boosted your ISO to 400, you would have gained two full stops of shutter speed. The downside to that is usually some more noise to deal with. In this case you pulled if off not needing to do that. Well done!

Hello Emma,
I like this shot as the environment you shot this caterpillar in is rather unusual. The stream is lovely. Sharp details and great colors on the caterpillar. Well done & TFS!
