Just a quick one today, something from the archives becuase I have not had chance to prepare anything for today. Lunchtime was too busy, I'm afraid.

I had had the camera for about 1 week when I took this picture exactly a year ago today.

I've learnt a lot since then and would now have underexposed this picture more than I did then though I did underexpose it a touch at the time.

Unfortuantly I have lost the EXIF data and the info is at home and I still have no broadband at home, so on Monday I will update the details...

Its the tree out of the study window. A rather common subject matter for me when I am looking for a target to shoot. This one was taken at dawn last year through the early morning mist. I always pop into the study to look out of this window when I get up in the morning just to see if there is anything worth shooting and one this morning there was.

Please enjoy.

I have to say that I am not entirely sure how happy I am with this photo, but thought I would post it anyway, just to see what others thought about it. So please comment, good or bad....

Its your tree again, Emma! I think that when I drive through the UK, I will recognize this tree from a distance. It is just a stunning tree, and a great target. My view is a fire station and not really a great target.

I like the pink silhoutte and the stripes of morning dew. I agree on the exposure, but then this is great proof of the knowledge you have gained in a year. Still it is stunning. I think it could use some sharpness especially to make the silhoutte stronger.

Good luck on the recovery from the loss of broadband :)

Hello Emma, lovely composition with an original atmosphere.
I like this orange foggy.
Well done.

Hi Emma, you are lucky to have nice views from your window. It's a nice composition but like you say the exposure has made the colours a bit washed out. I will look forward to a shot of this beautiful tree with autumn leaves. Well done and TFS.

Hi Emma,
As Dean have said, the view from your window worth at least a shot! The atmosphere you have captured is so far from my experience that I can't say if it's over or underexposed! In any way I like this photo and I find it beautiful.
Regards, Josť M.

Like a dream...! Magic atmosphere...! For me, it's one photo, one painting! Great work Emma!!

Hi Emma,
A beautiful and artistic composition. The light and mist have given a beautiful pastel tone to this shot. VERY NICE!

Hi Emma

A very beautiful shot of this tree, with a great moment and lighting captured. You are perhaps right about the fact that it might have been a bit better with a little more underexposure...but it's stil fine:)

Otherwise, just came back from my short trip where i took my first ever landscapes. Also i found that one of my friends have the Panorama Maker that you suggested (imagine my excitement) and so i tried some stiched shots too...but i don't think i'm ready for TN with them :p

Anyway, Bravo, TFS and thanks again for your help :)

Hello Emma,

Excellent use of light , great details, perfect details, great composed and capture photo, nice work, TFS Kyle

I agree, I like it as it is. It looks like a asian paining on rice papyrus - or something in that alley. I think the way you captured it, makes it stand out from other "standard" shots. It looks very nice. I would love to see a picture of this tree in moonlight..!

Simple and nice that is good photography

Hello Emma,
Maybe common subject but not the most common way to shot it, I would say. I really like the misty mood and a touch of colour. I guess underexposure could add a little more impact, but still this is really nice picture.
I like it!
