[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A second image of this large uknown Grasshopper / Locust? the 1st one was taken shortly after I found it the 1st time Large Unknown grasshopper as you can see it looked very different then in it's juvinille stage. on saturaday afternoon i was photographing a spider in the tunnel where I took the last image of it, when I saw a pair of legs wrapped around the red leaf of a cordyline australis 'Red Tower' looking to see what was attached to them I 1st was the striped eye's and was amazed at the changes a month had made to it, though with the one leg missing and the eye's it was obviously the same insect though now a lot larger at over 60mm from antenae to wing end in length and the complete set of funktional wings it used to fly down the length of the polythene tunnel to get away from me. seen here on a different sort of ornimental grass to the last time but of a simular size.
I am still struggling with a proper ident on it now it is an adult I hope somebody can put a name to it or push me in the right direction.
Thanks for looking yours Robert |
