Emma I love this and would love to see it full size for real, bet it would look stunning.
I looked at the workshop and love that one to, I really liked the extra bit at the bottom but think you have done well cropping this version as we didn't need all that sky.
I can see why it's such a photographed area, very beautiful. Everything is excellent about this photo and I have not a bad word to say about it! The lens seems really sharp throughout I bet you'll have a lot of fun with it!
All the best, look forward to more
Regards
Simon
Hi Emma and welcome back :)
I see you had quite a blast in your trip!
I didn't get a chance to congratulate you on your new lens...bravo! I've heared a lot of great things about it...and here is another one ;)
This is a superb landscape!
I really like all the colors here and i guess another congratulatulation is in order...for the new filter system :)
From what i heared, it's one of the best world wide...but also pretty expensive...but from what i saw in the posts taken with it on TN, it's worth all the money ;)
The compsition here is exceptional, with a charming positioning of that massive peak (with just a little snow on top to give it better definition).
The strong contrast also between the bright grass on the right and the dark-blue color of the water is terrific.
Splendid work overall!
Bravo and TFS

This is a great place to be in and this a very good picture to show us how great is that place!
composition is great and exposure is very good.
It seems that the picture is a bit tends to the left, just a feeling.
Hello Emma
I'm glad you're happy with your new lens and filters :)
It works perpectly in good hands - and I'm sure you are the right person.
I remember I was totally into this lens after a purchase. Now I must say I tend to some longer focal lenghts when possible, but still the magic of wide angle really impress me :)
This is one of my favourite spot in Highland and I just love Etive Mor. Every time I'm around I'm enchanted. You've done a good job here.
When it comes to your horizon problem - what I do in such situations is to check the water reflection. If you use a vertical ruler and try to connect the mountain peaks, you'll see a slight tilt to the right. Now - using a measure tool you can check the tilt level (I would say it's roughly 1,7 deg).
One more thing.
I've noticed some sharpening "halos" on the edges. It happens quite often, when using USM. My advice is to use "history brush" to cancel sharpening in such areas.
TFS Emma and take care.
Hope we'll meet next time.

A beautiful composition. The depth of colour is wonderful and the POV is worth wading in water. The light up in Scotland is magical and you have captured it. A magnificent shot.

It does look beautiful this time of year. The light and the colors are so nice. I really have to start using my wide angle lens more. I just have a hard time finding an appropriate subject that would utilize its unique quality. I would not have noticed the tilt if you had not mentioned it. Of course now I see it. A reflection will always be perpendicular to where ever you are standing. For example if you were to draw a straight line down from the end of that little white cloud to the same point in its reflection you would see that it is a little off. Another thing is that I have been told that polarising filters are best not used in landscape format because there is just too much difference in the saturation of the sky already from side to side. When the polariser is used it causes that unnatural darkening in the center. I've read to turn the polariser a little off of maximum to avoid that. The right hand side of this image is stunning.

Hi Emma,
I see that we use the same lens; 10-22, I'm very satisfied with it as it gives such great results in landscape photos, and has no vigneting problem at all. Your POV and the composition is very good. Great colors, contrast and light.

Hi Emma,
Great to see you back from your short vacation. I hope you had a wonderful time and were able to unwind. I am sure that we are going to see many more beautiful photos from your trip and many more wonderful stories.
You started of with a wonderful wide angle view. The exceptional clear weather is something I haven´t see for a long time and it gave you this combination of warm and cool colors and great clarity. I am glad you mentioned the height of this mountian since without any reference and because of its lonely position it is hard to tell how high it it.
TFS,
Niek
P.S. I like the tip Piotr gave on the horizon. Never came to my mind to do it that way.
Hi Emma,
outstanding picture and even so comment. I read your comment with Horia with a lot of interest. Maybe someday I'll buy this lens as well, but I hope for a full sensor camera way before that , since I have a 17-35 which is also very worth having.
It reminds me of my hogmany holidays for 13 years in a row in one of the Scottish bothies or just camping outside. This fellow (Stob dearg) is beside also having climbed and photographed it a good friend of mine in memories. Winter 1993 I was with some friends at the Kingshouse. Temperatures up to -30C Drove us into the climbers bar where we spent many hours. Outside was the magnificent snow covered Stob Dearg.
I'll add this to my favorites. And yes, and also the technical part is really nice as well.
Regards, Jacob
