[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Curculionidae, weevils, also called snout beetles or curculios (not to be confused with the genus Curculio), is the family of the "true" weevils (or snout beetles). With over 40,000 species described worldwide, it is the largest of any animal family.

They are recognized by their distinctive long snout and geniculate antennae with small clubs; beyond that, curculionids have considerable diversity of form and size, with adult lengths ranging from 1 mm to 40 mm.

Weevils are almost entirely plant feeders, and most species are associated with a narrow range of hosts, in many cases only living on a single species. With so many species to classify and over 400 genera, the taxonomy of this family is quite complicated, and authors disagree on the number and placement of various subfamilies, tribes, and subtribes.

The word "weevil" has been made famous by the boll weevil, which lays its eggs and eats inside cotton bolls, killing the plant.

Hi Greg. Great close up of this weevil. I like the side on POV so we can see all of the markings. Taken with sharp focusing and fine detail. You used the flash well. I have seen my first damselfly for this year today. TFS.

Hello Grzegorz,
WOW! The focus is impeccable! this a picture so good that I had to run to investigate what is a "Tokina AT-X M100 Pro D 1:1" ... I know now it's a macro lens (I apologize, but I know almost nothing about photography, and about lenses and reflexs, less!). Congratulations for your proven talent in managing your equipment. Besides the great focus, the picture has perfect lighting and a POV eloquent and accurate. TFS, regards, Jesús

HI Greg,
I'm happy you are passing by - and with this nice weevil ... it's lovely.
So close, so sharp, a perfect shot.
I love the arrangement with the fress green leaf and the drop, also a good blurred BG.

WOW - great shot of this weevil. Very crisp and sharp, and he is standing up so strongly on the leaf. And I can see the hairs on the leaf as well.
Good to see you posting - I'm not on TN much.
Hope all is well with you Greg
