Insects in flight-17

This Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum, Grosse Heidelibelle, Sympétrum striée. Libellulidae) did me the favor of hovering long enough so I could focus manually. You notice the attack angle of the wing that changes with each movement forward and backward. The plane of movement stays horizontal. And all four wings can do this independently !

Technicals: 1/4'000 sec, f/8, ISO 1'600, fill flash, tele 600 mm eq. Hand held.

Hi Dietrich, another time a masterwork talking about the sharpness and timing too, maybe it needs to work a bit to clean the noised background, but the dragonfly is absolutely perfect! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Sympetrum flying! Almost imposible for me with the macro lens.
You did an excellent work!

Hello Dietrich,
Well framed giving much space in front to move. Well background and details. I prefer such side view.
Thanks for sharing,
