Scientific name: Helianthemum stipulatum
Common Name (English): Sun-Rose

A spreading, intricately branched subshrub to about 25 cm high. Leaves seldom more than 10 mm long and 5 mm wide, variable in shape, ovate, elliptical, oblong, lanceolate or almost linear with the margins shortly recurved or very strongly revolute. Lamina very closely and evenly grey-tomentose on both sides. Inflorescence a simple *cincinnus, rachis densely tomentose, flowers sessile or almost sessile.2 outer sepals linear 4 mm long and 1 mm wide, 3 inner sepals broadly ovate, acute, 4-5 mm long (6-7 mm in fruit), 3-4 mm wide (5 mm in fruit), strongly 5-nerved. Petals yellow, usually shorter than sepals often very short or occasionally absent in *cleistogamous flowers. Stamens numerous, about 3 mm long, all fertile. Stigma rather small, truncate-capitate. Capsule subglobose, 4-5 mm in diameter, partly concealed by the persistent sepals.

Altitude: 0-150 m.
Flowering: January-July (October).


* Cleistogamous = pertaining to or having pollination occurring in unopened flowers.
*Cincinnus= A form of monochasium in which the lateral branches arise alternately on opposite sides of the false axis, called also scorpioid cyme.

a very lively yellow in a pretty and sharp composition. The diagonal of the branch from corner to corner makes the artistic view very attractive.
The sharpness and clarity is well defined.
