Oenanthe xanthoprymna (Hemprich & Ehrenberg 1833)
Rufus- tailed Wheatear, Kurdish Wheatear, Kurdistan Wheatear, Red-rumped Wheatear, Chestnut-rumped Wheatear

In my WS you can see a different pose of the same bird.
Oenanthe xanthoprymna is a small passerine bird in the family Saxicolidae. The Red-tailed Wheatear (O. chrysopygia) was formerly considered a subspecies of this bird but is now often regarded as a separate species.
Its breeding range covers south-east Turkey, northern Iraq and western Iran. It migrates south in winter to the Arabian Peninsula and north-east Africa.

In Cyprus Oenanthe xanthoprymna is a very rare vagrant with only 6 records.
This year a bird was wintering at Kavo Greko (eastern Cyprus) giving me the opportunity for some photos.

Hello Christodoulos,
A very pensive little bird..very natural presentation, fine and somehow so cute.
I like the simple composition with the bird posed on a stone and the green background. Lovely shot in the WS too. Thanks also for your note. I didn't know this bird-species.
Well seen!
Kind regards

Hi Christodoulos,

Well composed, good focus, excellent tone and lovely bird!
The screen composed of the bird, the rock, and the background is effectively used.
You also catch well this bird by clear detail, so it's impressive that the nib/mandible/foot are the blacks, and the abdomen is white/orange, and the back are ash browns. And, the noise of the background is removed well.

Yet another great shot of this Wheatear, Chris. This time it is perched on a rock.
Super POV, clarity and colours. The blurred green BG supports the subject very well.
Thanks and regards.

hello Christodoulos
great shrpness with beautiful colours make this picture SUPER GOOD

Hi Christodoulos,
I was waiting for this picture of the Kurdish Wheatear.
You got closer the the bird this time than the day we was out together on Kavo Gkreko
A great picture of this rare bird, the pose is very fine and the low POV is also fine.Sharpness and DOF are almost perfect.
Great work as usual.

I'm back in Sweden, it took pretty long time with lots of delays, we arrived late last night.
It was a pleasure to meet you, I hope we can meet more next winter when we will stay 5 months.
Best Regards

Hello Christodoulos,
Both the main and WS images are wonderful portraits of this rare visitor to Cyprus, a male Rufus-tailed Wheatear. Technically excellent to make these a superb ilustration of this species that is unknown in my country.
Thanks and kind regards,

Beautifully colored bird with fine pose, well captured except for the white rock which you could have cropped out with 3:2 ratio, just a suggestion. tfs.

Bonjour Christodoulos,
