Epallage fatime (Charpentier 1840). Female
Odalisques

Epallage fatime is a damselfly belonging to the family Euphaeidae.
It is a large and heavy damselfly with a total length of up to 50 millimeters and a hindwing length of up to 34 millimeters. It is similar in size to Calopteryx splendens but it has a much more robust body and narrower wings. The mature male has blue non-metallic pruinose body. The female and the fresh male have a yellow-brown thorax with black strips and abdominal segments each with a broad black dorsal strip, divided medially by a yellow line, also powdered in blue-grey. Both sexes have characteristic dark wing tips.

Epallage fatime occurs from eastern Mediterranean (Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Cyprus) along the south of the Iranian-Turanian sub-region to Kasmir.
In Cyprus it is a common species found along the streams of the Troodos Mountains.

Bonjour Christodoulos,
An damselfly-species rarely shown on TN. This Epallage has a special shape, looks slightly like some species we have in our mountain areas with their cylindric abdomen. As usual technically perfect shot shown in a simple and fine composition.
Bon dimanche
Anne

Excellent macro Christadoulos!
This female Odalisque is well portrayed from a fine lateral POV with top sharpness against the clean natural BG with good lighting showing it up well.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

What a stunning picture, Chris! Look at that eye: it's almost in 3D!
This dark Dragonfly is new for me. Its straight, cylinderical and evenly segmented abdomen is a very special feature which I like the most. The direction of natural light is just perfect to illuminate the insect's profile in view.
Regards.
