A tick in family Ixodidae (hard ticks) looking for a host.Ticks are small parasites that living by hematophagy on various animals. They drink the blood by making a hole in the host's skin then using their hypostome extract the blood. The north-east of Iran is a suitable habitat for them, mostly in Tandoureh national park.

Mohammad,

As a medical entomologist, I appreciate this questing tick. Not so sure it is a Dermacentor with such quadrate palpi, but I am not a tick expert. One has to appreciate the effort you took to set-up in a very low position to capture this small tick (4-5mm) on a sprig of vegetation awaiting some warm blooded animal to approach close enough to latch onto. Very good focus for most of the plane ... festoons and legs slightly lower and out of focus. TFS

I think this is a vry special photo because we do not see photos of ticks every day.
Nice focus on the body.
You could have trimmed the left side of the photo - too much green I think.
