Sternbergia Clusiana (Large Sternbergia ) growing on the slope of Mt Tavor in northern Israel.
A "bulb" flower that has a short season of maximum 3 weeks in mid autumn and is a farely rare find.The "cup" of petals opens during sunlight hours and closes during the night.Only after the flower has wilted do green leaves then grow in its place.One of the largest and most beautiful flowers found in Israel.
