Iris bismarckiana is one of the rare and endangered species in Israel. It grows also in S Lebanon and recently found in Jordan as well. In the Nazareth area (Lower Galilee) it is threatened from thurban extention and dense foresrty.

Another marvellous picture from one of your royal Iris. It is a shame even if they are protected species,endangered of extinction is not enough to respect their ihabits.

It is very familiar situation for a spanish person, here we have the same problem (I think most of mediterranean ones) Authorities protect, and then help to avoid legal obstacles to the speculators.
