[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday I found in the Carmel National Park my first Phoenician Romulea of the season (Romulea phoenicia, Iridaceae) in a site not far from my home, pointed out to me by my friend, Itai Nahshon. This is one of the five Romulea (named after one of the Rome founder twins) species we have in Israel. It is endemic to northern Israel and to Lebanon, and thus named after the Phoenicians who inhabited the shores of today’s Lebanon (and gave us the first alphabet). While considered rare, it is locally quite abundant in the Carmel. Flower diameter is about 30 mm. The leaves are long and slender.

Hello Ishi,
Very stiking picture of this fine Romulea. Well framed shot with beautiful natural colors and an interesting flower which I didn't know. I just wonder why it's named after Romulus.
Thanks a lot
Best regards
