Iris nazarena or I.bismarckiana, Nazareth Iris, is one of our biggest and most beautiful irises. As the name implies, it is known from the area of the town of Nazareth in the Lower Galilee. It belongs the Oncocyclus section of the Iridaceae, known as the “Temple Irises” due to the structure of the flower, which is 12-15 cm tall. The single flower is carried on a stem that may reach 50 cm in height. Iris nazarena is endangered due to loss of habitat, and is protected by law.

Picture taken in natural light; hand–held camera; no cropping; some contrast enhancement; size reduction and sharpening for TN.

Hi Ishi,
A fantastic image of the iris. Difficult to get the exposure right with the black and white but you did a great job. It truly is a lovely flower.
Regards, David

Hi Ishi,
When I see very small wild flower then it reminds me to put a scal beside that and shoot to justify the size but may that will not be appreciated by webmaster so I drop the idea.
Here we have few days to nov roze many do get out in mountains and surroundings to enjoy the nature so that day I'll do that experiment as I have selected some places for that tiny flowers.
When I look to this flower like it say to the beast or animal that don't eat me..
Nice shot well composed.
Regards.
TFS.

Muhammad.

Hello Ishi,
What a superb-looking species of Iris!
The flower has the colours and markings that suggest that the scent would attract flies, especially with the dark round mark on the lobe.
The POV, sharpness and lighting contribute to make a fine illustration of a species new to me.
Thank you and have a good weekend,
Ivan
