[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note

Sincere apologies to Ulla for plagiarizing the caption to this picture from her post of yesterday.
The difference lies only in my use of the apostrophe with ant in the singular person :-).

Our little garden is a miniature ecological zone, especially in summers. The insects that inhabit it these days are house flies, flesh flies, hover flies, mosquitos, honey bees and quite a few other small sized insects of microscopic proportions.
I found a few very small sized black ants foraging on whatever few plants we have in this so-called garden and decided to do some macro work on them.
Here is the first picture I shot this morning.

Here is also a small general note on ants abstracted from Wikipedia:

'Ants are eusocial insects that belong to the same order as the wasps and bees. They are of particular interest because of their highly organized colonies or nests which sometimes consist of millions of individuals. Individuals are divided into infertile female workers and fertile males (drones) and females (queens). Colonies can occupy and use a wide area of land to support them. Ant colonies are sometimes described as superorganisms because the colony appears to operate as a single entity.

Ants have colonized almost every landmass on Earth. The only places lacking indigenous ant species are Antarctica, Greenland, Iceland, and the Hawaiian Islands. They can constitute up to 15 to 25% of the total animal biomass. Up to a third (33%) of the terrestrial animal biomass has been estimated to be made up of ants and termites.
There are about 11,880 known ant species, most of which are tropical.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Ram,
In this so degraded planet small areas still hold wild life though usually in miniature version. This close-up shows us a nice view with perfect focus on the subject and a really nice flower.
TFS, José M.

Hello Ram,
I'm glad you liked my title!! ;-))
This is a very lovely and well-timed shot, as the ant was probably not long on that petal where it shows up so clearly! Beautiful colours and nicely contrasting background.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

bonjour ram
un peu plus de profondeur est les petales de la premiere fleur auraient été tous dans le champs, mais les couleurs sont belles et la netteté bonne sur le coeur de la fleur et la fourmie.

Hello Ram,
Nice capture of an ant near the curly swastika. The composition is just right and the sizing suitable for comparing it to the geranium flowers.
I find the variation on Ulla's title amusing.
TFS and keep well,

Hello Ram,
Good details and attractive colours!
The crisp-soft texture is amazing, and lifting the image above the average...
Well composed and the colour palette is nicely balanced!

Hello Ram,
Beautiful picture. I like very much the contrasting colours of flowers and the background as well as this dim, gentle light. Wonderful composition and details too.
Very nice accompanying note.
The only thing I would change would be to frame it a bit more to the left to catch the whole flower.
Best greetings,

Ricardo

Beautiful composition Ram with delicate point of view that allows to appreciate the flower and their guest into a very pleasant scene.
The nice colors and the good illumination together with the excellent achieved background collaborate with the aesthetics of the presentation.
Personally and ignoring the use of your lens, I had attempted the capture of more depth integrating inside the focus bigger surface of the flowers and including the entirety of the flower of the left that it appears lightly cut.
My best regards... Ricardo
