Female Scarlet Skimmer

Friends, I am sorry I was busy yesterday and could not make it on TN. Thanks for writing your kind critiques on my previous picture and I would try to get back to you as soon as possible.
Today I am taking you back by two years to my time in Saudia Arabia. I am posting the picture of a dragonfly that had visited me in May and I had gone berserk shooting it; you do not have much wild life in that country and having a dragonfly visiting our little garden was a moment of great excitement. I had posted numerous pictures of this species in 2006. However, since I still retain a lot of them, I thought of posting a new one from that collection.

My purpose was also to edit the images of that time taken with my point-and-shoot Sony P200 on my recently acquired Photoshop CS3, and believe me, this software is a wizard alright! I was much pleased with the result and I do hope you too would like it.

It also proves that a sophisticated DSLR is not the only way to take good pictures. Given the right light conditions, a small camera can also do a good job.
At that time, I was confused about the ID of this dragonfly. Now I am sure it is a Female Scarlet
Skimmer with whom I have quite an intimate relationship here in India. My recent posts of it would prove that.
Since I have written whatever information is available about this species with my previous posts, I would suggest to you to refer back to them to know more about this family.

Thanks for looking and have a great weekend.

Hola Ram, una toma con un encuadre acertado, nitida y con muy buen enfoque y detalles. Un saludo

It is a special one Ram...and you know...it is good as gold:-)

Hello Ram,

Splendid shot. Excellent composition and sharpness. Excellent exposure and natural colours.

A fine capture indeed, from a nearly vertical vantage point Ram, a beautiful skimmer beautifully reproduced here my friend, love those membraneous wings with the fine latticework of veins!
TFS and cheers,

Hello Ram!
This lady looks very delicate even if it is a dragonfly from suborder Anisoptera. Very nice colouration and details (only some parts of head are a little out of focus).
TFS and have a nice weekend!
Greetings from Lodz,

Hello Ram,
This dragonfly is a real beauty and has good camouflage colours for Saudi Arabia's sand! A lovely composition with the dragonfly sharply in focus and details are very sharp perhaps with the help of CS3!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla
